As we begin to say goodbye to the gorgeous summer weather, keep in mind that there are still plenty of great reasons to plan a trip to Rehoboth Beach this fall. Sure, the chillier air may make it a little bit more difficult to hit the beach for a swim, but amongst the great atmosphere and shopping centers, remember that there is nothing like a bit of coastal cuisine! Want a chance to sample some of the best? Come on out next week Thursday, September 18, 2014 for the Battle at the Beach: Chef Cook-Off.
Sponsored by Meals on Wheels, the 3rd Annual Battle at the Beach: Chef Cook-Off Competition will take place at The Ivy in Dewey Beach from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and is one event that food-lovers will not want to miss! Here’s how it works:
Event attendees will have the opportunity to indulge in delicious hors d’oeuvres made by the battling restaurants while watching the chefs go head-to-head in the ultimate cooking challenge. If you are over the age of 21, a cash bar will also be on site for your enjoyment. Once all is said and done, the proceeds will go to benefit Meals on Wheels of Delaware.
So which restaurants will be taking part in this epic battle, you wonder? Well this year’s lineup will be very interesting as Dogfish Head Brewing & Eats, Lewes Yacht Club, The Ivy, Po’ Boy Creole & Fresh Catch, Nage Restaurant and more all compete for first place. The chef who manages to snag the title of this round will then go on to face the 2013 champion, Chef Andy Feeley, at the Celebrity Chefs’ Beach Brunch on Sunday October 5th.
One more piece of excitement that is new to the competition this year is the Mixology Contest. Guests will be able to sample tasty cocktails and vote for their favorite. Whichever drink comes out on top will be featured as the signature cocktail at the Celebrity Chefs’ Beach Brunch.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at mealsonwheelsde.org. Come on out for some coastal fun, food and drinks for a good cause! We hope to see you there!
