visit from SantaSpending the holidays with The Avenue? Whether you are interested in seeing a show, visiting with Santa or spending some time in nature, there is something you and your family will love to do in the days leading up to Christmas!

December 16: 20th Annual Beebe Holiday of Lights

Head to nearby Lewes, Delaware to enjoy Beebe Healthcare’s 20th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Watch the lawn light up with all the colors of the season while singing carols with Santa Claus. The lights go on at 5:30 p.m. and snacks will be served with Santa afterwards.

December 18-20: Santa’s House on the Boardwalk

One of the most exciting parts of the holiday season is getting a chance to talk with Santa. This year, he will be making a visit to his Rehoboth Beach home from Friday, December 18 to Sunday, December 20. Located just down the street from The Avenue, visit the boardwalk and share your Christmas wish list with Santa Claus. His house will be open to guests from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. There is no cost to visit, but donations are welcome.

December 19: Weekend Wonderland in Bethany

Whether you are looking to spend a day or a couple hours getting in the holiday spirit, Weekend Wonderland in Bethany is the place to visit on December 19! This day-long festival includes a winter party in the morning, lunch with Santa, a holiday magic show and more. Area shops will be open throughout the celebration for all your last minute holiday shopping needs. There is even a gift wrapping station you can stop by between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

December 19: A Not So Silent Night

Celebrate the holidays with Clear Space Theatre and a few of our favorite local artists. The one-night performance of A Not So Silent Night is one that your entire family will enjoy. Listen to the Christmas classics and newer holiday tunes between unique and witty musical skits. All seats are $15 and guests are welcome to sing along throughout the performance. The show starts at 7 p.m., so make sure you get here early to grab your tickets!

December 19: Stayin’ Alive!

Bundle up and enjoy Southern Delaware’s beautiful winter weather with a trip to Cape Henlopen State Park. Perfect for children age seven and up, the “Stayin’ Alive!” program will teach your family all about how the animals of the park survive throughout the cold winter months. The cost is $2 per person and you can pre-register by calling 302-645-6852.
