If you are planning a vacation in Rehoboth Beach, you probably already know that the area has fantastic beaches, great seafood and numerous opportunities for fun in the sun. But did you know that our community also has a fascinating history?
Go deeper this trip and discover the rich heritage of the Delaware Coast on one of the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society’s regular Rehoboth Beach walking tours.
Every other Thursday at 9 a.m. (with a few exceptions), meet at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand for a gentle two-hour stroll around downtown Rehoboth Beach.
Along the route, your guide will help you discover local landmarks while also sharing historic photos. You will learn about Native peoples of the area, the Methodist Camp Meetings, historic local hotels, and Horn’s Pavilion. Your guide will also share mysterious stories about area shipwrecks and offer interesting facts about the railroad, favorite local restaurants and, of course, Funland.
Tours cost just $10 per person. Check tour dates and book your tour by calling the Rehoboth Beach Museum at 302-227-7310. If the museum is closed, just leave your name and number on the answering machine.
