Painting Benefits Infants with SIDS

Painting Benefits Infants with SIDSIf you are a parent, you have probably heard of SIDS, also known as ‘sudden infant death syndrome’. SIDS is defined as the unexplained death, typically during sleep, of an otherwise seemingly healthy baby between birth and one year of age.

There are some theories that abnormalities in the portion of the baby’s brain that controls breathing and sleep causes SIDS to occur, however, the cause of SIDS is technically unknown.

Parents are encouraged to have their babies sleep on their backs to prevent SIDS from occurring.  It is unfortunate that about 1,600 babies died from SIDS in 2015. Doctors are doing what they can to prevent SIDS from occurring, however, they are still unable to predict which babies are at risk.

On Thursday, May 11, Paint with a Twist in Lewes, Delaware is hosting a spring fundraiser for SIDS at 7 p.m.

The event is open to the public for the cost of $40 per seat, and half of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the American SIDS Institute. (Keep in mind, you must be over 15 to attend and participate.)

Gather a group of your closest friends, pack some snacks and non-alcoholic beverages; and hand paint a beautiful picture while raising money for a worthy cause. Learn some new painting techniques to create your own version of the painting “Colors of the Moon,” while enjoying an evening with some of your loved ones.

If you’re not local to the area but are planning to attend, make a reservation at The Avenue, the #1 rated Rehoboth Beach Delaware Hotel.
