Interested in doing something crazy to help raise money for charity, but feeling uninspired? If you like the beach, even in the winter, you should support this year’s Polar Bear Plunge!
This year, the Lewes Polar Bear Plunge is held on Sunday, February 4th at 1 pm on the Delaware beaches in Rehoboth
The Lewes Polar Bear Plunge has developed into a truly unique Delaware event and fundraiser. People from neighboring states drive down to the shore and hit the beach in freezing cold temperatures, and jump right into the extremely cold Atlantic Ocean!
The Plunge event happens all weekend long, with a 5K, chili contest, ice sculpting demonstration, polar ice cream throw down, and tons of other activities for the family. So, if you don’t love the idea of getting into a bathing suit and taking a cold dip this season, come on by for the weekend anyway, and watch the action ensue!
Why do those crazy polar bears jump into the freezing cold ocean in the middle of winter?
The Lewes Polar Bear Plunge raises money to fund the Special Olympics. Everyone deserves a chance at a happy and purposeful life, including people with disabilities who may have to overcome many barriers in their lives. The Special Olympics fosters a community to help people with disabilities feel fulfilled, and feel like champions.
Plan ahead and book your room now at The Avenue, and we will see you in just a few weeks for the Polar Bear Plunge!
